I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m going to have to get a vehicle. I’m going to get some sort of truck in the next 2 months. It’s most likely to be a Ford Ranger/Sport Trac/Mazda B-series. I’m probably not going to spend more than $4-5k.
Anyway, in my cursory glances at Craigslist, cars.com, etc., I’ve come across some... INTERESTING items. Like this Ram they actually want $4000 for.
So, here’s the challenge. Find me the worst way to spend $3000-$5000. It can either be in alarmingly bad condition for the price, a dangerously unreliable model, painfully undesirable, or some combination. Let’s say it has to be in running condition and passing emissions, but it doesn't need to be in my geographical area.
Bring it on, MFers.

Worst way? Give me the money. I run and pass plenty of emissions. Condition is lacklustre at best.

Th e ad states it runs, drives, and brakes. No need to pass emissions when it’s over half a decade old.

How about an Ecotec powered, VW based sand rail. Not sketchy at all

Or a ‘71 Mustang. Sorry, they’re hideous

Or an E55 AMG. I quite like these but I fear they’re unreliable

Or lastly, a suspiciously cheap Audi A8

Oh, I really like that Fatstang.
That A8... man that's nice.

Pity it's on the other side of the globe.

I converted to Canadian and sorted by price, but that’s too much money. I keep finding shit I actually kinda want.

Ya know what? I’m gonna stop before I buy a truck... There’s apparently a fuckton to choose from here, and prices on this search are dropping to the “what the hell, why not?” level.

I had the same problem. I kept going down in price and just kept finding more and more cool stuff. I’m afraid I’ll buy something before I find a shitbox to enter in the game.
I wouldn't even know where to begin figuring out which of the above I'd actually buy. Kid in a candy store.

Copart has some great deals!
How about this 2009 Chevy Silverado? Crew cab / V8 / 4x4, in bright red, with an American flag hood visor. Also, some leftover brains f
rom the previous owner in the driver’s seat. Current bid, $3,550. (Disturbing pic warning if you click through)

Or this 2011 Chevy Silverado? This one is a quad cab, V8, 4x4, with undetermined mileage. This one has brains all over the goddam place in the interior, not just confined to the driver’s seat. Current bid $3,350.
(VERY disturbing pic warning if you click through)

Until recently there was a 1970 GMC Sprint with a little body damage that was REALLY tempting at $4500.
I don’t know what it is about them, but as much as I dislike the front end on that era Ranchero I am still drawn to them. You could even swap on a T-bird front end and gain hidden headlights.

I’m guessing that’s definitely the case for the white one, but the red one could have been something else.
Going to the Copart site and searching by Damage Type: Biohazard has some interesting results (and great deals!).
